Kenneth Randall Harvey, Sr.
December 29, 1912 - September 12, 2006
Kenneth Randall Harvey, 93, died Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at Hospice Savannah. Born in Rochelle, FL December 29, 1912 moved to Pembroke, GA as a baby and as a young child to Savannah where he resided for over 85 years. He attended Savannah schools and was a lifelong Methodist. As a young adult he became a member of the IBEW Electrical Workers Local Union # 508. He remained with the union throughout his career as an electrician and served as Chairman of the Executive Board for numerous years until his retirement. Since retirement, he remained active in the IBEW Retiree Breakfast Club. He was a longtime member of Savannah Italian Club actively involved in club activities and was an avid gardener once interviewed on local TV news for his ability to grow giant vegetables. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen T. and James Randall Harvey; sisters, Hazel, Carol Coleman and Pauline Shannon and brother, Emerson Harvey. He will be remembered for the smooth way he would glide with wife Connie across Savannah dance floors and how he formed instant friendships with all he met. He will always be the pride of his loving family left with beautiful memories and the chance to share in that last anniversary dance in the famous white dinner jacket and black tuxedo pants.
He is survived by a loving wife of 55 years, Connie Harvey; four sons, K.Randall, Jr. Sandra, J.Charles Barbara, Michael Jackie, and Tommy Norma; two daughters, Janice George Adams and Connie Wesley Boyter; eight grandchildren, David Harvey Mary Ann, Michael Harvey, Jimmy Harvey Alicia, Karen Mike Malinowski, Michelle Harvey, Chris Perry, Mandy Harvey and Justin Harvey; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Guillotte of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a special niece, Sister Lillian Quadrella; numerous other nieces and nephews and a lifelong “Best Friend” Thurman Salters.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2006 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2006 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Active pallbearers will be David Harvey, Michael Harvey, Jimmy Harvey, Mike Malinowski, Justin Haveyard, and friend Chris Polson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of ELEC. Workers IBEW Local # 508.
Burial will follow in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
Remembrances may be made to Hospice Savannah Inc. or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
